Florent GIMBERT
Florent Gimbert is a CNRS research scientist at IGE. He is interested in the mechanics of various Earth’s surface processes associated with ice, water and rock dynamics. He develops innovative observational and theoretical frameworks that allow making use of geophysical (mainly seismic) methods to infer key physical properties related to glacier flow (basal sliding, internal ice deformation), open and confined channel flows (rivers, subglacial channels and associated sediment transport) and sea-ice drift. In the SAUSSURE project, Florent leads WP2, which aims at establishing and evaluating physically-based friction laws from dedicated meso-scale modelling constrained from finely resolved geophysical observations.
